Wii Sports Resort Games That Didn’t Make It
Producer Katsuya Eguchi shared some of what didn’t make the cut in Wii Sports Resort, which included fishing, water sliding and kendama.
“We considered fishing and a water slide activity before deciding on the final twelve events,” Eguchi said. “As for more unconventional concepts, we created a pretty fun prototype of kendama, a traditional Japanese toy, that just didn’t fit the game’s theme.”
He also offered thoughts on the Frisbee game, on behest of Wired. “If anyone could throw the Frisbee perfectly, it wouldn’t be very enjoyable,” said Eguchi. “I believe that gradual improvement in an activity is a form of fun. It takes trial and error to learn how the activity works and what motion results in the best outcome.”
Considering Wii Sports Resort has sold over three million copies to date, we think Nintendo knows what it’s doing, even if we complain sometimes!
